Sapporo’s Go-To Tourist Spot! Moiwa Ropeway

This time we will introduce Moiwa Ropeway !
Mt. Moiwa is Sapporo’s most famous night view spot, Sapporo’s night view is certified by the Night Scenery Light Convention Bureau.It was even elected as one of “Japan’s New Three Great Night Views”!
The Mt. Moiwa Ropeway is approximately 20 minutes by city tram from UNWIND HOTEL & BAR SAPPORO (outer loop of the ropeway entrance from Yamahana 9-jo). After getting off the streetcar, there is a free shuttle bus to Ropeway Sanroku Station. (About 10 minutes walk. Distance is about 500m)
▲There is also a bicycle parking lot and a parking lot, so you can also move by car!
To get to the top of Mt. Moiwa, take the following route: Sanroku Station → Ropeway → Chufuku Station → Mini Cable Car → Summit Station.
After purchasing a ticket at Sanroku Station, first take the ropeway to Chufuku Station.
The ropeway you board from Moiwa Sanroku Station travels 1,200m in 5 minutes.
While traveling, listen to the guide announcements and admire the spectacular scenery below.
You can also enjoy the view of the ground that gradually becomes smaller.
As you climb steadily, your heart will swell at the spectacular view you can see at the top of the mountain!
(*The ropeway runs approximately every 15 minutes both up and down.)
After riding the ropeway, transfer to the cable car “Morisu Car”.
After walking through the forest for about 3 minutes, you will reach the mountaintop!
You can purchase souvenirs and take-out meals at Sancho Station!

The summit station is 531m above sea level. The observation deck offers a large panoramic view of 360° north, south, east, and west.
There is a “bell of happiness” on the observation deck, which is a popular spot for commemorative photos. You can ring it freely, and you can attach “keys of love” to the surrounding handrails.
It is said that there is a jinx on the love key, and if you write the names of two people on it and attach it, it will create a strong bond!
It is popular not only as a tourist spot but also as a date spot for Hokkaido residents.
▲The “key of love” has a cute heart shape. You can purchase it for ¥1,000 from the vending machine at the summit observation deck and the souvenir shop at the summit station.
Mt. Moiwa is famous for its spectacular night view, but the daytime view is also spectacular!
On a clear day, you can see the mountains of Hokkaido and the cityscape of Sapporo, which cannot be seen at night.
This time we recommend the autumn leaves season is from around mid-October!
The autumn leaves that can be seen while riding the ropeway are impressive.
There is a 600m promenade from Chufuku Station to Sancho Station, so it might be a good idea to take a walk while enjoying the autumn leaves. The promenade is easier to walk than the mountain trail, and there are rest areas as well.
Even women and children can walk safely and enjoy the scenery.
