At UNWIND HOTEL & BAR OTARU, we began 2025 with a special twist on our usual high tea-style breakfast, incorporating the rich flavors of traditional Japanese New Year cuisine.

Welcoming our guests with these vibrant dishes allowed us to start the year on a delightful and festive note, truly fitting for the beginning of a new chapter!

A Festive High Tea-Style Breakfast to Celebrate the New Year

For a limited time during the New Year, UNWIND HOTEL & BAR OTARU offered a special breakfast menu blending tradition and modern flair. While our popular homemade scones and daily toast selections remained unchanged, we added a touch of Japanese tradition with elements of osechi cuisine.

Classics like rolled omelet datemaki, salmon wrapped in kelp, and checkered kamaboko were given a modern twist, creating a harmonious fusion of Japanese and Western flavors.

Guests enjoyed a luxurious morning, savoring the festive elegance of this unique menu and embracing the special feeling that comes with the start of a new year.

January 1–3, 2025: Special New Year’s Breakfast Menu

  • Homemade scones made with Hokkaido wheat
  • Hokkaido yogurt served with original fruit sauce
  • Datemaki (rolled omelet), checkered kamaboko, and salmon wrapped in kelp
  • Daily special New Year’s main dish and soup
  • Fresh salad and macedonia (fruit cup)

This limited-time menu was crafted to bring a celebratory touch to your mornings, blending local Hokkaido flavors with traditional New Year elements.

For the New Year, we presented a selection of osechi dishes, including datemaki (rolled omelet), checkered kamaboko, and salmon wrapped in kelp, each symbolizing good fortune for the year ahead.

The daily special main dishes featured vibrant options such as roast beef, marinated herring topped with flying fish roe, and seared prosciutto served with a vegetable jelly. Each plate was crafted with care, incorporating Hokkaido’s finest ingredients to bring a touch of elegance and joy to the start of the year, delighting guests with both flavor and presentation.

During this celebratory period, guests also enjoyed sparkling wine alongside their breakfast, adding a festive note to the occasion.
