Elegant, quiet, peaceful, wabi-sabi…There are many words that can describe the beautiful atmosphere in temples and shrines in Kyoto that you should not miss. You can enter beautiful gardens, feel the zen atmosphere and discover Japanese traditional architecture during the day, but what about at night?
During the spring season, Kyoto is illuminated with lights all over the city, including at temples and shrines which have many cherry blossom light-up events. Even if you go in early spring when the cherry blossoms aren’t in full bloom yet, you will still enjoy the illuminations.
