A hotel where you can experience art

Located in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, slash kawasaki is a lifestyle hotel that embraces the concept of “a hotel where you can experience art.” The hotel offers guests fresh inspiration with each visit, enhancing everyday life through artistic experiences.

With over 80% of its guests in their 20s, the hotel attracts a fashion-conscious, art-loving, and trend-savvy audience. In response, slash kawasaki has collaborated with many up-and-coming artists and trending creatives, hosting pop-up art events, producing original collaboration goods, and even integrating art into dining experiences.

Artist Collaboration with Popular Illustrator nowri

This time, slash kawasaki is partnering with nowri, a popular illustrator known for depicting “strong and beautiful women living in their era.” Inspired by the changing seasons, nowri has created original artwork that brings slash kawasaki to life throughout the year.

The collaboration features four idol-inspired female characters, each representing a season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Beyond admiring the artwork, guests can immerse themselves in the characters’ personalities and stories, exploring their struggles and aspirations.

To celebrate the collaboration, a limited-edition apparel collection featuring these artworks—including shirts, T-shirts, long-sleeve T-shirts, and coach jackets—will be available starting April 29. Expanding beyond T-shirts for the first time, this collection offers four different fashion pieces designed to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

Additionally, from April 29 to May 14, a pop-up shop will feature canvas artworks, exclusive merchandise, and a signing event where fans can meet nowri in person on select dates.

Meet the Four Characters Inspired by the Four Seasons

◆ nowri comment

For this collaboration, I thought about how I could bring the concept of the four seasons to life, and I decided to depict four female characters as idols. It felt like stepping into the role of a producer, carefully crafting each of their personalities, relationships, and even small details like the type of decor they’d have in their rooms. As I worked, I kept imagining their expressions, the kind of logos they might create, and the accessories they’d wear. It was an incredibly fun and fulfilling process, and I grew attached to each of them.

I’d be thrilled if people could appreciate not only the original artworks but also the goods inspired by them. These characters are like my own children, so I hope everyone can enjoy them with love and care.

Each of these four characters shines on the surface—one is an MAMA award-winning idol, another a Paris Collection designer, one a Grammy-winning artist, and another a Milan Collection model. However, behind their glamorous achievements, they each have very human qualities: a socially awkward gyaru idol, a tough-looking but misunderstood designer, a reclusive otaku artist, and a cheerful but enigmatic model.

Beneath their dazzling exteriors, they struggle with insecurities and lead lives that might feel surprisingly relatable. I’d love for people to discover those layers of personality and connect with them beyond just their appearances.
