To commemorate our 7th anniversary, we held a special “Casual Tanabata Event” on July 12th (Friday), themed “7th Anniversary.andsnack: Tanabata Night – Get Together, Live the Culture.” This event, unique to The Millennials Kyoto and .andwork Kyoto, brought together travelers and nomadic workers from around the world. We’d like to share some highlights from the event with you!
Dynamic Tuna Cutting Show Featuring Japanese Culture
On the day of the event, we had a tuna cutting show performed by “Sengyo Kimura” from Nishiki Market! It was an exciting and lively spectacle! The tuna was expertly cut and served as sashimi, seared, and in hand-rolled sushi, which proved to be incredibly popular, creating long lines.
In addition to the tuna cutting show, we celebrated the 7th anniversary and Tanabata’s “7” with an original shichimi (seven-spice) making experience. Participants also enjoyed Kyoto’s local sake, original cocktails, yakitori, and obanzai (Kyoto-style home-cooked dishes).
We received many kind words from participants, such as “It was amazing to see the tuna cutting show up close!” and “I hope there will be more events like this!” We are deeply honored and grateful for the feedback.
A space where interaction naturally occurs across nationalities, languages, and cultures.
We had approximately 50 guests, including locals, travelers from around the world, and nomadic workers, join us for the event. Through the event, guests naturally bonded with each other, with some even going out for meals together afterward! Additionally, natural communication developed between guests and staff, making it a lively yet homely event characteristic of The Millennials Kyoto. We’d like to share a few photos from the event!
At The Millennials Kyoto and .andwork Kyoto, we will continue to offer travelers experiences to connect with local people and things, and provide locals with opportunities to feel close to the world through interactions with many travelers.
