Dandelion Chocolate Factory & Cafe
Just a 15-minute bike ride from HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU or a 5-minute walk from Kuramae Station, this shop is the first Japanese location of the San Francisco-born Bean-to-Bar chocolate specialist, opened in 2016.
The interior is bathed in soft, natural light with a warm wooden ambiance that instantly soothes. I visited early in the morning, and the cafe was already bustling. The seating area on the second floor gradually filled as well.
I tried the House Hot Chocolate (left, ¥760) and the S’more (right, ¥680). The hot chocolate had a velvety texture and a gentle, sweet aroma of chocolate that enveloped the palate. As for the s’more, its presentation surprised me—a nearly square sablé base topped with a layer of chocolate-filled marshmallow.
Expecting the classic cracker sandwich style, I was intrigued. Using a knife and fork to enjoy it, the marshmallow’s soft and chewy texture melted perfectly with the sweet and slightly bitter chocolate. The sprinkling of rock salt added an unexpected yet delightful accent, making this treat a sophisticated indulgence for grown-ups.

Biomadaga
Biomadaga is located in a corner of Uenosakuragi Atari, specifically in Room 201 (pictured on the left). When you step through the entrance, the colorful interior immediately catches your eye, creating a unique atmosphere.
At Biomadaga, you’ll find chocolates made with Madagascan cacao. The shelves are lined with brightly colored packages that are exciting just to look at. The store owner, who previously worked as a tour operator in Madagascar, has poured their passion into creating this beautiful space. The result is a comfortable and inviting atmosphere with a touch of exotic charm.
The store owner’s recommendation is the chocolate pictured on the left. From the brand “Chocolat Madagascar,” this product contains 10 pieces of chocolate. According to the owner, it’s a great choice for first-time customers as it offers a variety of flavors. The chocolate with cashew nuts, shown on the right, is also from the same brand. It has grooves for easy breaking, and even a small piece is so rich and satisfying. Why not try giving a unique chocolate gift this Valentine’s Day?
The shop is adorned with many photos of Madagascar, making you feel as though you’ve wandered into the country itself. They also sell various Madagascan goods, allowing visitors to get a sense of the culture. Most enjoyable of all is chatting with the owner, whose background as a tour operator makes for fascinating stories. You’ll leave feeling as though you’ve become a little more knowledgeable about Madagascar.

HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU will be offering limited-edition Valentine’s sweets and drinks for three days, from February 14 (Friday) to February 16 (Sunday), 2025. Make your stay with your loved ones even more memorable with these special treats.
Raspberry Cupcakes (¥400 incl. tax)
These come in two flavors: chocolate and plain. Topped with raspberry-flavored frosting, the pink, fluffy cream adds a charming touch. The tartness of the raspberry perfectly complements the sweetness of the cupcakes, creating a delightful balance of flavors.
Café Mocha Raspberry (Hot) (¥750 incl. tax)
A Valentine’s Day special chocolate café latte with a unique touch of raspberry sauce. The raspberry-themed latte art is a must-see!
Cracking Latte (Iced) (¥750 incl. tax)
This drink features a layer of bitter chocolate and raspberry sauce coating the inside of the cup. The fun begins as you crack the chocolate before drinking, enjoying the texture, sound, and the experience of the melted chocolate.
Both the Café Mocha Raspberry and Cracking Latte use espresso from SOL’S COFFEE, specifically their [ETHIOPIA WOTE KONGA 2300]. Carefully selected by the hotel’s barista, this espresso perfectly complements the Valentine’s drinks.
